🫵 About the facilitator:
Prof. Dr. M. Bala Tharumalingam has been involved in Thirumurai and Tamilisai teaching for the past 30 years. He started learning Thirumurai Music at a young age from the well known legend of Thirumurai, Otuvarmoorty. Vetharniyam Muthu Kumarasamy Desigar from India when the latter was the Devasthana Othuvar in Kuala Lumpur Mahamariamman Temple in the 1980s.
He is also a direct disciple of another well known Thirumurai Maestro, Otuvar Ratna Sabapathy Thesigar from Puthuvayal, Karaikudi, India, who taught him the intricacies of Tamilisai & Pannisai techniques.
He has undertaken research on Tamilisai and established the theory that “Tamilisai is the first music scheme in the world”. His continuous research has contributed to creating the syllabus for the current program of Thirumurai Music Teacher’s Training (Thirumurai Isai Aasiriyar Payirchi).
He is notably the key person in creating the syllabus for the judges for the Thirumurai Competition of Malaysia Hindu Sangam which has been conducted nationwide in Malaysia since 2000.
