The Speaker: Datuk Dr. V. Kathiresan D.M.S.M, P.M.C is a Consultant cardiac anesthesiologist. He graduated in 1972 from Stanley Medical College university of Madras. He started his medical carrier in Malaysia in 1972 and later in 1984 he was appointed as consultant cardiac anesthesiologist at General hospital Kuala Lumpur. In 1992 he took up the position of consultant cardiac anesthesiologist at National Heart Institute (IJN) and few years later he was appointed as clinical director of anesthesiology services at IJN. In National Heart Institute he was appointed as chairman and committee member of various committees in the hospital. From the year 2004 he is working as consultant cardiac anesthesiologist at Damansara Specialist Hospital. He has been elected to the post of treasurer for Malaysian association for thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, Malaysian society of anesthesiologist and Malaysian Society for Intensive care for many years. He has published papers in the Malaysian Journal of Surgery, Malaysian Medical Journal and written articles in Malaysian Tamil news papers (Tamil Nesan, Malaysia Nanban) and Tamil magazine Idhayam. He has given talks in various medical conferences and seminars, public societies and school programs. He was interviewed and given talks many times in Radio and Television Malaysia and other television channels in Malaysia. In recognition of his services to public he has received the award Pingat Masyarakat Cemerlang (P.M.C) (Excellent Public Service Award) from D.Y.M.M. Tuanku Yang Di Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan (Ruler of Negeri Sembilan) in 1984. He received excellent services award from General Hospital Kuala Lumpur in 1987. Excellent service award from National heart institute in 2002 Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (D.M.S.M) which carries the title Datuk from Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Melaka (Ruler of Melaka) in 2004. Excellent Service Award from Damansara Specialist Hospital in the year 2019.
